Every year we have our Chinese New Year Family Dinner immediately following the AGM. This event has been proven to be a favourite with our members’ spouses and children, because they play family bingo, while the AGM is in session. This year we hope to offer the same or a similar program to entertain the families.

As in previous years, Kirin Seafood Restaurant (at 2/F, City Square, 555 West 12th Avenue, Vancouver) will offer an excellent menu to help us celebrate the Chinese New Year. The cost of the Family Dinner will be:

Dear members,

It is our great honour to have Mr. Chan Koon Chung (陳冠中) to share with us his views about China at the 2010 Midsummer Afternoon Talk. He is an alumnus of the 1969 class of Wah Yan College Kowloon.

Born in 1952, Mr. Chan Koon Chung has lived in Taipei for six years, and studied Sociology, Politics and Media in University of Hong Kong and Boston University. He is one of the cultural pioneers in Hong Kong, practicing as a writer, critic and media practitioner. He is one of the founders of the ‘City Magazine’ 《號外》, which has been the most influential cultural magazine in the 1970s and 1980s. His latest novel In an Age of Prosperity: China 2013 is a sardonic and disturbing fictional consideration of the ‘harmonious society’ engineered by China’s party-state since the tumultuous events of 1989.
